The HTC Hero is HTC’s new android offering - it’s a futuristic, stylish phone offering all modern necessities. It’s customisable and prides itself on the ability to be personalised to your own needs and wants.
HTC Hero Design
The HTC Hero measures 112 mm (height) x 56.2 mm (width) x 14.4 mm (thickness), and weighs in at 135 grams. The phone is dominated by the 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen. There is a trackball at the bottom of the phone to allow for easy navigation, but there is no physical keypad. The alphanumeric keyboard is featured as an on-screen application. The back of the phone has bevelled edges to make holding it more comfortable, and a Teflon coating over the Hero provides extra phone protection. The Hero is a flat phone with an angled bottom, allowing for better sound when speaking. Colour-wise, the phone is available in brown and white.
HTC Hero Music
The HTC Hero comes with an integrated music player supporting all popular music formats including MP3, MIDI, AAC, AMR, WAV, AAC and Windows Media¨ 9. Sound quality is great and the phone’s connectivity features make it easy to transfer music from other devices onto the Hero. A speaker phone is included, and there are easy playlist and searching options. There is a fair amount of internal memory (288 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM), but this can be increased with a MicroSD card if you want to store more of your tracks.
HTC Hero Camera
The HTC Hero comes with a very respectable built-in 5-megapixel camera. There is an autofocus feature that ensures that your snapshots are clear and focussed. The photo album application allows you to store your pictures for easy access. Although there isn’t a secondary camera, the camera function also operates as a video recorder and video player.
HTC Hero Applications and Internet
The HTC Hero comes with standard phone applications as well as a number of added features. A GPS navigation application ensures you won’t get lost, and a built-in document viewer makes it an ideal business accessory. E-mail and Instant Messaging applications compliment the messaging apps. Flash support has been built into the phone, and the Hero has social networking integration to allow for easier access to social sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Internet connectivity is made possible with 3G HSDPA, HSCSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, GPRS and EDGE
