The HTC Touch HD is feature-rich, fun handset. It’s great for business and has enough to keep everybody busy and satisfied. And, to top it all off, it looks great too.

HTC Touch HD Design

The HTC Touch HD measures 115 mm (height) x 62.8 mm (width) x 12 mm (thickness) and weighs in at 146 grams. The front of the handset is dominated by the 3.8 inch TFT resistive touchscreen that displays at a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, meaning that picture quality is good. Instead of physical buttons, the bottom of the screen features 4 touch sensitive ‘symbols’ for call, home, back and end. There is unfortunately no backlighting so calling in the dark may be an issue. The rest of the handset is very sleek and minimalistic, and even though it’s quite a solid handset it’s suitable to carry around on a daily basis. Colour-wise the HTC Touch HD is available in black.

HTC Touch HD Music

The HTC Touch HD comes with an integrated MP3 player. Track and artist information as well as album artwork is displayed on the screen. You are able to set up repeat, shuffle and playlists, and you can even adjust the audio boost settings. Albums can be easily navigated through by simply swiping the screen vertically up or down. The phone also comes with a built-in radio with RDS, meaning that information from the radio station is displayed across your screen as you listen.
The HTC Touch HD has a fairly good amount of internal storage (288 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM), but a microSD card allows you to increase this and store even more music tracks if desired. There is even a 3.5 mm headphone jack to allow you to experience your music with your favourite headphones.

HTC Touch HD Camera

The HTC Touch HD comes with a built-in 5-megapixel camera. Digital zoom is available from 1x to 2x, and there is an autofocus feature to ensure that your pictures are always in focus. Picture resolution is 2592 x 1944 pixels, meaning that image quality is great. You can make adjustments to many features when taking pictures, including such things as white balance, resolution and camera modes. The camera feature also operates as a video recorder, capturing images at 30 frames per second. The HTC Touch HD also features a secondary VGA videocall camera.

HTC Touch HD Applications and Internet

In addition to the standard phone applications, the HTC Touch HD has a few added extras. The weather feature is quite a fun addition – by selecting the weather tab you can see a graphical representation of the current weather conditions as a four day forecast for up to seven cities. The built-in GPS offers A-GPS support to ensure that you always know where you’re going. To aid in business matters, there is a Pocket Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, PDF viewer) as well as a voice memo. There is also an easy access YouTube application.
Internet connectivity is made possible with GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSDPA, WLAN Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB technologies.

HTC Touch HD Summary

The HTC Touch HD is a fantastic yet minimalistic looking phone. It has a very iPhone feel to it, and caters nicely to both a recreational and business market. A good value for money purchase.
