The LG KU990 Viewty could put a few cameras to shame – it takes great pictures and is the perfect pocket companion. It’s feature rich and comes in an attractive, sleek casing.

LG KU990 Viewty Design

The LG KU990 Viewty measures 103.5 mm (height) x 54.4 mm (width) x 14.8 mm (thickness) and weighs 112 grams. The front of the handset is dominated by the 3 inch TFT LCD touchscreen which offers support for up to 256 000 colours and displays at a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels meaning that image quality is great. Touch feedback features on the touchscreen, meaning that you literally feel the screen responding by means of a buzz on your fingertips. If you prefer not to use your fingers, a stylus is also included with the phone. Below the screen you will find three physical keys – call, end call and cancel. Turning the handset over hints at the great photographic capabilities of the phone. The large camera lens sits at the top left section of the phone, and next to that you will find a xenon flash and autofocus light. There are also dedicated camera keys on the right side of the phone. Colour-wise the LG KU990 Viewty is available in black, dark silver, purple, pink, red and white.

LG KU990 Viewty Music

The LG KU990 Viewty features an integrated music player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC++ and WMA music formats. The phone comes with stereo headphones, but you can connect optional mono or stereo Bluetooth headphones if you prefer. There is also a Stereo FM radio with an RDS feature, meaning that information from the radio station can be displayed across your screen as you are listening. The LG KU990 Viewty has a fairly generous 100 MB of internal memory, allowing you to store a fair amount of your tracks on your handset. This capacity can however be increased up to 2 GB by means of a microSD card if desired.

LG KU990 Viewty Camera

The camera feature LG KU990 Viewty is truly enviable. The 5.1-megapixel digital camera features a host of extras to improve the quality of your pictures. The most visible aspect of the camera is the Schneider kreuznach lens – a hint at the quality of the pictures. The auto focus and image stabiliser ensure that your snapshots are focused and clear, and a xenon flash allows you to photograph even when lighting conditions aren’t ideal. There are also dedicated camera keys to quickly and easily access the camera. The camera on the Viewty also functions as a video recorder, capturing images at 120 frames per second. There are facilities to edit your videos once you’ve captured them as well as the option to playback video footage. In addition to all of this there is also a secondary VGA videocall camera.

LG KU990 Viewty Applications and Internet

Besides the standard phone applications, LG have included a few extras with the KU990 Viewty. The phone has both a good organiser and a Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) to help with business transactions. If you need to do a bit of online browsing there won’t be any issue as the phone has a WAP Browser and XHTML. There are also a number of camera-dedicated applications.
Internet connectivity is made possible with GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSDPA, Bluetooth, USB technologies.

LG KU990 Viewty Summary

The LG KU990 Viewty is a great camera phone. It operates perfectly as a business phone if necessary, but the multimedia features will give you endless hours of fun. A good value for money purchase.
