The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is a dedicated music phone and features great sound applications. It’s compact, fun and savvy and a pretty good all-rounder.
Nokia 5630 XpressMusic Design
The ultra-slim Nokia 5630 XpressMusic measures 112 mm (height) x 46 mm (width) x 12 mm (thickness), and its mere 83 gram weight makes it easy to carry around in your pocket or bag. The 2.2-inch screen offers support for up to 16.7 million colours, meaning that image quality is very pleasing. The alphanumeric keypad is nicely spaced and the keys are arched to improve ease of use and cut back on mistakes in typing. There is however quite a bit of free space surrounding the keys and screen and Nokia could have perhaps made them slightly larger. Being a music phone, there are dedicated music keys, and the camera lens and flash are visible on the rear of the phone. Colour-wise, the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is available in red on black, blue on grey, and chrome on grey.
Nokia 5630 XpressMusic Music
As the name suggests, the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic comes with great music features. The integrated media player provides excellent quality sound and there are a number of great features that are included. It is easy to browse songs by artist, genre, album or composer. There are also podcasting options. There is a voice activated music search feature, allowing you to find your tracks by simply saying the name or artist. When a song is playing, the phone displays all the track information, including the album artwork. You can easily adjust the phone’s equaliser modes, and playlists are a breeze to create. At the top of the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic handset is a 3.5 mm audio jack to accommodate almost any earphones, and the dedicated music keys make control of the music player very easy. A great number of music formats are supported (AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, AU, eAAC+, M4A, MIDI Tones (poly 64), Mobile XMF, MP3, MP4, RealAudio 7, 8, 10, SP-MIDI, True tones, WAV, WMA and WVE), and there is also a built-in stereo FM radio with RDS functionality.
256 MB of internal storage allows for a decent number of tracks to be stored on the phone, but this can be increased up to 16 GB by means of a MicroSD card if desired.
Nokia 5630 XpressMusic Camera
The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic comes with an integrated 3.15-megapixel camera. There is unfortunately no autofocus feature so users will have to make do with an enhanced fixed focus. At 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, picture quality isn’t amazing, but it is definitely acceptable for fun snapshots. The LED flash helps in low lighting conditions, and you are able to change between different scene modes. There is even a panorama mode that allows you to capture your surroundings up to 360 degrees. It is also possible to use the camera feature as a video recorder, and you can capture images at 15 frames per second. There are several video mode and setting adjustments you can make. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic also features a secondary VGA video call camera.
Nokia 5630 XpressMusic Applications and Internet
Apart the standard applications found on a phone, the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic has a few extra offerings. In addition to SMS and MMS applications, the phone also offers E-mail support. A number of applications have been included to assist business people – these include such things as a Zip application, document viewer, notes converter and Adobe PDF to name a few. The phone is also N-Gage compatible.
The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic runs off a Symbian operating system, and Internet connectivity is made possible with GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, 3G HSDPA, WLAN, Bluetooth and USB technologies.
Nokia 5630 XpressMusic Summary
The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is small on size but big on sound. The music features are excellent, and the extra applications are also great. A lot of emphasis has been placed on meeting the needs of business-people, and the overall functionality of the phone is great.
