The Nokia N97 is almost here. This is going to be one of the must have phones of 2009 for sure. Think of all the great phones of 2008, the iPhone, The Nokia N96, the Samsung Omnia, and then wrap them up together and you get the Nokia N97. Ok, maybe that’s a little extreme, but it is about right.
Design-wise, the Nokia N97 is dominated by a large 3.5 inch touch screen, with the call and end buttons being touch sensitive. It is a rather large phone (being slightly larger than the iphone), but this is justified by the fact it is actually a mini-PC. The actual size is 15.9mm deep by 55.3mm wide by 117.2mm tall when in its upright & closed position
It has a QWERTY style slide out keyboard, which results in an angled screen. The QWERTY board is a good size, and there is no chance of you hitting 2 buttons at the same time.
The headphone jack and the power switch are right on top of the Nokia N97.
The Nokia N97 uses the Symbion operating system, and this has been set up quite well with the touch screen. The screen is very responsive and intuitive to use, and Nokia have built quite a few little goodies and widgets to play with. It is especially easy to use in conjunction with the QWERTY keyboard, as this puts the screen at an angle and it is even larger!
The Nokia N 97 comes with a built in music player, which supports most music formats including MP3. There is also an FM Radio and a music display with Play-list.
The camera is awesome, and is a 5 megapixel cameras with Carl Zeiss Tessarâ„¢ lens. You will not be dissapointed with the resolution and sheer variety of image editing options on the Nokia N97.
Talk time, when fully charged is roughly 6 hours.
A very cool feature that Nokia have introduced, that is being trialed in the Nokia N97 is ‘Social location’. This means that the N97 Nokia will update your social network(s) with your location, using GPS. This of course, only if you want it to.
Finally, the Nokia N97 has a large selection of applications which include Conference Calling, Document Viewer, GPS Navigation, OS Symbian Operating System, S60 5th Edition Software, Nokia Maps with Compass and A GPS Receiver. This also includes a bunch of other tools to make life a little easier like a Converter, Calendar and a Calculator plus many more
